San Diego Weddings and Unique Portraits

Welcome to my archived blog space for Papaya Sky Photography. I ran Papaya Sky Photography part time in addition to my day job from the end of 2009 to 2012. After my son turned a few months old I decided to retire the business in order to focus more of my time on my two young kids and my day job.

Gnome House!

Steve and I had a wonderfully relaxing mini vacation a couple of weeks ago at the Shadow Mountain Ranch bed and breakfast in Julian, CA. And the best part? We got to stay in the Gnome House!!

The Gnome House was custom-built to look like the stump of a tree, perfectly located with beautiful views of some of the surrounding conifers at Shadow Mountain Ranch.
The front door was custom carved...

The round Gnome bedroom, equipped with Gnome hats on the bedposts. :)
Yes, that very cool rock sink is built to look like a stone creature and that is a rock waterfall behind it!
The house also had a round living room, a third of which was covered with windows looking out at the beautiful trees. An extremely relaxing spot to sit and have a cup of tea while sketching or reading a book.

And what would a Gnome house be without Gnome occupants in the garden?

Steve, the youngest of the Gnomes, practices his Gnome face.
The rest of the ranch was absolutely beautiful...the first night we were there was clear and we were able to enjoy a stunning sunset; on the second day a romantic mist draped across the mountains.

There is even a chapel on the ranch which people can rent out for services such as weddings or memorial services.
Here is one of the Summer room, the Treehouse!
I just loved the old mossy oak this platform house was built around.
Interior view.
One of the other rooms, a quaint cottage-style house
The main house had a great entertainment room if you wanted a bit more space to socialize with other guests.
And what would a bed and breakfast be without food? Our hosts served a delicious breakfast both days and on Saturday provided a delightful tea. :) I would also highly recommend the company of our hosts Jim and Tracy, who were wonderful to talk to and went out of their way to make our experience a great one. Can't wait to go back! :)

Wedding: Camille and Steven, Sunset Point, March 3rd 2012

Camille and Steven chose beautiful Sunset Point as their wedding location and San Diego gave them a warm and perfect spring day to share with their family and friends. Bright green fields of grass sprinkled with tiny white flowers created the ideal compliment to the dazzling blue of the bay and sky.

I just loved some of the details Camille thought of to compliment her princess-inspired wedding dress and romantic bright-red flowers, like this lovely I Do for "something blue" done up in rhinestones on her shoes.

And of course, the crown! Both father and grandfather had the honor of walking down the aisle.Steven sees his radiant bride
